First Annual Vet Art Project Veterans Art Show

July 10, 2014, 11 am - 9 pm

The Vet Art Project will hold a one-day-only veterans’ art show at the Akron Art Museum with a special presentation at 5:30 pm featuring some of the veteran artists. The art show includes visual art in various media, poetry, music and therapeutic art. This Vet Art Project program is a collaboration between the Akron Art Museum, the Vet Art Project and Valor Home. The 5:30 pm program will include readings and a talkback with some veteran artists.

A veteran’s resource table will feature information about various organizations serving veterans and their families. Copies of “How to Witness Veterans Stories”—a handout of do’s and don’t’s created by veterans and therapists—will be available as well as information about the Women Warriors Project, Red Bird Center, Valor Home, Pedals for Heroes, and more. This program coincides with the first anniversary of Valor Home, a residence for veterans who are recovering from homelessness.
