Akron Art Library: Max Markwald Studio Tour

April 26, 2018, 6:00 – 7:00 pm

Join the museum’s Art Library Program Coordinator Jessica Fijalkovich for a studio tour and talk with Art Library Artist Max Markwald at Summit Artspace. We will meet in the Akron Art Museum lobby at 6 pm and take a short walk over to Summit Artspace.

Markwald shifts between creating small abstract compositions and painting larger than life portraits of average people, turning them into iconic figures. During this behind the scenes experience you will learn more about the artist's process and techniques and see what they are currently working on.

After the tour choose your own adventure! Enjoy free admission to the museum or visit the Art Library collection at the Akron-Summit County Public Library Main Library to reserve an original work of art to hang in your home.

$5 for members / $10 non-members. Registration is required. Only 10 spots available! Register online through the Eventbrite link below.

This tour is part of the Akron Art Library, an art lending program in partnership with the Akron-Summit County Public Library. Find out more about the Akron Art Library.

Workout with a Line

Best for ages 3+ and their grown-ups (siblings welcome)

Art makes you move! When children look thoughtfully at art, they develop self-expression and early reading skills, but not only with their eyes. Responding to the basic elements of art such as color, line, shape and space involves a whole-body approach to seeing. In collaboration with The Movement Project, works of art come alive with dramatic interpretation through movement. A kinesthetic art-making experience follows. Please dress for stretching and inventiveness.

Free for members. $10/non-member child. Space is limited.
Registration required. Register online using the link / button below, or call 330.376.9186.
