Last Look Tour Jun Kaneko: Blurred Lines

June 2, 2018, 2:00 pm

Join John S. Knight Executive Director and CEO Mark Masuoka for a Last Look tour of Jun Kaneko: Blurred Lines.

Highlighting transformational moments throughout Kaneko’s five-decade career, the exhibition includes several large-scale ceramic sculptures, drawings, paintings and a site-specific installation of his 65-foot-long painting, Mirage. Blurred Lines also represents the first Akron Art Museum exhibition curated by Masuoka, who drew on a nearly 35-year relationship with the artist—Masuoka's mentor and friend—to create the exhibition.

Family Day: Backyard Art-BQ

June 2, 2018, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Bring a picnic blanket and some wet naps—we’re cooking up some sweet and sticky art recipes in our garden kitchen. Roll out sunbaked clay pies, try your hand at printmaking-on-the-cob and glaze canvas with edible molasses paint. When the feast is done, wash away the day with dancing in the sprinkler.

Special guest: The Jammin’ Jumpers jumprope team will perform from 12 – 12:30 pm.

Akron Art Museum’s Family Day events are designed for children aged 0-12. Adults must be accompanied by a child. Siblings are always welcome.

Event-related activities are free. Admission to the galleries is free for ALL children (age 17 and under with an adult) and adult members. Non-member adult admission is $10.

Registration encouraged (due to limited supplies) but drop-ins welcome!
