The Art of Monoprinting

July 26, 2018, 6:00 pm

* * * This program will be held at Rubber City Prints * * *
467 West Market Street, Akron, OH

Erin Guido and Erik Neff are printmakers from the Akron Art Library collection who create monoprints—a one of a kind printed painting.

Interested in trying your hand at the most painterly method of printmaking techniques? The Rubber City Prints team will lead demonstrations on creating line, texture and colors for printing with intaglio and block printing ink. Participants will then create large-scale prints using methods learned with intaglio inks and an etching press to transfer the image to paper. Everyone will get a chance to turn the wheel and leave with a beautiful 18 x 24 in. monoprint.

$35 per person or $65 per group of two
Registration required. Click the link / button below to register. Space is limited, only 16 spots available.

This program is part of the Akron Art Library, an art lending program in partnership with the Akron-Summit County Public Library. Find out more about the Akron Art Library here.

Downtown@Dusk: Sammy DeLeon Latin Jazz Orchestra

July 26, 2018, 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Free & Open to All

Enjoy an evening of Latin Jazz from one of Northeast Ohio's most recognized bandleaders, Sammy De Leon.

De Leon's discography includes “Que Lindas Son Las Mujeres” with Orquesta Charambó (1985), “Un Nuevo Estilo” with Impacto Nuevo (1995), “Algo Para Ti” Roberto Ocasio Latin Project (1998), and “Sammy” with Sammy De Leon Orchestra (2003). He regularly mentors young musicians from Oberlin College who want to learn Latin music. His friends jokingly call his band “Sammy Salsa College” because his band has been a rite of passage for many upcoming players.

Downtown@Dusk concerts are held in the Akron Art Museum's Bud and Susie Rogers Garden. In the event of inclement weather, concerts are held on the terrace, or moved to the museum lobby.

Spend a relaxing summer evening with friends and family in our beautiful downtown garden, the perfect venue for outdoor music and a cool drink. Throughout the summer, the museum café will offer delicious food options, including ice cream novelties and ice-cold beverages.

Downtown@Dusk is presented by the Akron Art Museum, with additional support Ron and Ann Allan, Audio-Technica, EarthQuaker Devices and Clear Gold Audio.

Media sponsorship is provided by The Summit FM.
