Josh is an Akron area documentarian whose most recent film The Chosen People? focuses on the divisive aspects of religion, especially among Christians, Muslims, and Jews. He hopes to help bring about peace and unity through better understanding of that which divides us.

Aminah Fogarty
Aminah is a Cuyahoga Falls native who spent twenty-five years as an expatriate in Saudi Arabia. While there, she travelled extensively throughout the Middle East, Far East and Europe. As an American Muslim convert, she has a unique, interesting, and remarkably discriminatory set of experiences that followed her around the globe.

Shammas Malik, Esq.

Shammas Malik, Esq.
Shammas is a local government attorney, serving as an Assistant Director of Law with the City of Akron. His work covers a wide variety of areas, including contracts and legislation. In his free time, he enjoys hoping for the best while expecting the worst for the Cavs.


Ghulam Mir, MD
Ghulam emigrated from Kashmir to the U.S. in 1974. He is a gastroenterologist at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. Over the years, Ghulam has served as President, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and currently Director of the Public Relations Committee at the Islamic Society of Akron and Kent.

Creative Playdate - Jams and Jazz Traffic Painting

Best for ages 12 months – 5 years and their grown-ups (siblings welcome)

Art meets play every first Thursday! Meaningful messes and inventive play are the foundation for big ideas. Make a date to celebrate your little scribbler’s creative side where, with a little imagination, everyday materials have infinite potential and “doing work” involves testing out unconventional methods for making a single object of wonder or collaboration with friends. This program is a sensory-rich, open-ended experience. Art smocks provided.

Free for members. $10/non-member child.
