Let your imagination take flight in an artfully concocted tale of dread and delight. Take a page right out of the Dread and Delight: Fairy Tales in an Anxious World exhibition during this storytelling workshop designed for anyone with a desire to tell a tale. Guided by Teaching Artist, Kyle Jozsa, of Wandering Aesthetics, participants explore once familiar fairytales with a “reassembled” approach to creating their own unique story.

Soy Wax Resist with Praxis Fiber Workshop

Try your hand at batik, a technique of wax-resist dyeing used by Akron Art Library collection artist Christi Birchfield. In this all-day workshop with Praxis we will explore the use of soy wax as a resist on fabric to create layered designs in easy to do steps. Participants will work with fabric dyes to establish a color palette and will make or use found objects for stamping into the fabric using soy wax. All materials provided with registration fee.

$15/members, $20/nonmembers.

Join Board President Bruce Rowland, John S. Knight Director and CEO Mark Masuoka and the Board of Directors for our Annual Meeting at the Akron Art Museum. We will recap the past year's programs and events, elect newly nominated board members, re-elect directors to a second four-year term and vote on a proposed amendment to the Akron Art Museum Code of Regulations.

The Governance Committee recommends the election of the following individuals for one, four-year term (2019-2023):
