High Arts Knight at the Museum Featuring Kasumi
Join us in the Bud and Susie Rogers Garden to screen films, enjoy live music and catch a unique performance by Kasumi as part of Optics of Memory (a fellow Knight Arts Challenge winner).
Admission to this performance is free and open to the public. Family friendly entertainment for all ages. Does not include admission to museum galleries.
Kasumi’s newest audio-visual installation and live performance, the Optics of Memory Experience is an eye-popping mix of vividly psychedelic imagery projected onto three massive screens and hypnotic, immersive electronic music amplified through a state-of-the-art sound system.
Her media phantasmagoria takes the audience on a journey into the mirrored feedback loop of perception and memory. Kasumi is well known for her daring artistic experiences that blend her unique filmmaking, musical, and artistic talents into work that has been described as “wildly innovative,” “mind-blowing,” “brilliant,” and “transcendent” and that “breaks all boundaries in media art.”
Kasumi’s performance will culminate an art filled evening of live performances and short films as part of the High Arts Festival's Knight at the Museum. Entertainment will begin at 6:30 PM on the lawn of the Akron Art Museum’s Bud & Susie Rogers Garden.
This event is sponsored by the GAR Foundation, Haslinger Foundation, Downtown Akron Partnership, Akron Art Museum, Kent State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, and made possible by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge.
