Baby-Safe Clay Play

Best for ages 0-12 months and their grown-ups

Calling all rollers, sitters, dribblers and gigglers for a pint-sized playdate where we’ll explore blobs of color, fuzzy edges, shapes and shadows, scents and touch. Park the stroller and crawl on up for bouncy rhymes, singing, puppets and sensory play that will awaken your baby’s curiosity and create a page for the baby book. Crying and cooing welcome. And don’t let the art disrupt feeding, sleeping or changing schedules; We have a designated, quiet family-friendly classroom for stretching out your visit.

$5 for members. $10/non-member child.

Join the museum’s Art Library Program Coordinator for a behind the scenes tour of Art Library artist Joan Colbert's home studio in Highland Square.

Artist Joan Colbert works in a variety of media with an emphasis on printmaking, painting and collage. Inspired by literature and influenced by her environs, she often produces works that are thematic in nature. During this behind the scenes experience you will learn more about the artist's process and techniques and see what she is currently working on.

We will meet at Joan’s at 6 pm. Address and parking information to be emailed day before the tour after Eventbrite registration is completed.

Space is limited! Only 15 spots available. Registration required: members FREE, $5 non-members.

Join John S. Knight Executive Director and CEO Mark Masuoka for a Last Look tour of Jun Kaneko: Blurred Lines. 

Highlighting transformational moments throughout Kaneko’s five-decade career, the exhibition includes several large-scale ceramic sculptures, drawings, paintings and a site-specific installation of his 65-foot-long painting, Mirage. Blurred Lines also represents the first Akron Art Museum exhibition curated by Masuoka, who drew on a nearly 35-year relationship with the artist—Masuoka's mentor and friend—to create the exhibition.

Even if you aren’t familiar with Emberley, here’s your chance to learn about the illustrator that has children and professional artists and designer like Todd Oldham, clamoring to get a get a closer look. Explore Emberley’s printmaking technique and draftsmanship and learn about his connections to art and history.
