Docent Talk: An-Akron-Ism
At 1 pm, discover stories behind our treasures during a docent-led gallery talk on objects from the collection.
Art had been slow to adopt departures from accepted norms. But around mid 19th century things began to change. With the introduction of the camera, society no longer relied on artists to reproduce the real world. Artists were free to express themselves in less realistic and even non-objective ways.
This tour will explore several "isms," beginning with Impressionism, followed by Abstract Impressionism and Op Art, Minimalism/Conceptualism and Figurative Expressionism, which is loosely related to Surrealism.
Third Thursdays are made possible by a generous gift from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.
