Gobel received his MFA from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1999) and his BFA from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (1996). He has been included in group exhibitions at the Las Vegas Art Museum (2007), Art Rotterdam, the Netherlands (2005), and the New Museum, New York (2005).
