Clarence E. Van Duzer

American
(Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1920 - 2009, Cleveland, Ohio)
Van Duzer is a painter and sculptor whose legacy as both an artist and teacher is strongly felt in the Cleveland art scene. He received a BS Degree from Case Western Reserve University, Adelbert College, and a Certificate of Graduation from the Cleveland Institute of Art (then Cleveland School of Art) in 1945. He attended the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and earned an MFA from Yale University School of Fine Art in 1947. After teaching at the University of Denver from 1949-52, he served as director of the Flint Institute of Art, and finally returned to the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1957.  He taught there until his retirement in 1989.
