Brinsley Tyrrell

A native of Surrey, England, Tyrrell received an Intermediate Degree in Fine Arts and a National Diploma Design from Camberwill School of Arts and Crafts, The University of London. An accomplished sculptor, draughtsman and painter, Tyrrell has been commissioned for public art works that adorn the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, Kent State University campus, Mill Creek Falls Park in Cleveland, and the 117th Street RTA Station in Cleveland, among other sites. His work has been featured in one-person exhibitions at William Busta Galley, Blossom Music Center, and Gallery 138 in Kent. A professor of art at Kent State University from 1968 to 1996, Tyrrell received a Governor’s Award for the Arts in 2002 (with his wife, Lilian), and a Cleveland Arts Prize Lifetime Achievement Award for Visual Arts (2011).
