Leroy W. Flint
(Ashtabula, Ohio, 1909 - 1991, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio)
The artist was a participant in the regional Works Project Administration/Federal Art Project based in Cleveland.
Born in Ashtabula, Leroy Flint is a graduate of the Cleveland School of Art. He participated in the Works Project Administration/Federal Art Project in Cleveland from 1936 to 1941, executing a number of murals as well as prints. Leroy Flint was a guiding force behind the arts in Akron for more than two decades. From 1950 to 1965 he was on the faculty of the Akron Art Institute (a precursor of the Akron Art Museum), serving as its director for the last nine years. Flint then joined the faculty of Kent State University where he taught until 1979.
