Guest. (P.S.) 25,000 solar images, 6:34 pm, 29th March, 1995 , 1995

Cibachrome print

Gift of William S. Lipscomb
Bucklow considers his Guest series to be an extended self-portrait. “I believe everyone in your dreams represents a psychological aspect of yourself.” He attempts to expose the invisible forces of life’s vital spark. “The figures are porous, they breathe,” he states, “they are open to the world.” Transferring the silhouette of a figure to aluminum foil, the artists pierces the material with 25,000 pinhole apertures.  Placed over a sheet of Cibachrome paper and exposed to the sun, thousands of images of the sun’s disc coalesce into the ethereal figure you see here.
