Outbuilding [North Texas]
To photograph exterior views using only moonlight, Sharp typically works with either a 4x5 or an 8x10 bellows camera and uses exposure times ranging from a few minutes to several hours. She explains that, “Because the film is allowed to ‘see’ the scene for so long, elements . . . lost to the human eye at the time of exposure are revealed in lavish detail after the negative has been processed.” Consequently, Sharp’s work achieves a hyper-real richness of color and light: “Colors shift. Light-reflective objects seem, instead, to emit their own light.”
