Akron Art Museum Introduces Two New Admission Policies
For Release: May 2012
The Akron Art Museum Board of Trustees recently approved two major changes to the museum’s admission policy that will provide students, young adults and families with children additional opportunities to explore the collection and exhibition galleries.
Student admission changes. Beginning immediately, children 17 years and younger will be admitted FREE to the museum’s galleries. This extension allows middle and high school students to continue their interest in the art museum experience. (Previously the student admission was offered to children 12 and under).
The museum’s community free day, Sunday Sampler changes to Third Thursday. Beginning in July, visitors will receive free admission to the collection and exhibition galleries all day from 11 am – 9 pm, on the third Thursday of the month. The last Sunday Sampler will be June 3, the first Third Thursday will be July 19. The museum will continue to partner with the Akron/Summit County Public Library, Summit Artspace and nearby venues to showcase the arts and attract visitors to Downtown Akron on those days. The change to Thursday offers more opportunities for visitors to enjoy downtown venues including restaurants and galleries, which are typically closed on Sunday.
