Akron Art Museum Presents Two Days of Wine:
14th Annual Wine Auction
June 12 - 13, 2009

For Release: May 2009

Akron, Ohio, May 18, 2009 — Kick off the summer in style with the Akron Art Museum’s 14th Annual Wine Auction. This lively event, chaired by Jamie Boyd and Rory O’Neil, will be held over two days, beginning with a casual tasting event on Friday night and culminating on Saturday night with a black tie dinner and wine auction. This is Akron’s premier celebration of fine wine, friends and fundraising for the visual arts, and has raised more than $1.8 million over the years.

We are honored to have the pleasure of Michael Honig’s company during this delightful two-day event. Fifteen years ago, Honig Sauvignon Blanc was served in a single restaurant in San Francisco. Today, Honig has become the benchmark of good California Sauvignon Blanc and is included on the wine lists of most fine restaurants nationwide.

Reserve the Night: The Napa Valley Experience – Friday, June 12

The festivities begin with a wine tasting featuring Michael Honig of Honig Winery in California’s Napa Valley. Taking place in the Beatrice Knapp McDowell Grand Lobby at the Akron Art Museum, guests can expect a vibrant atmosphere with musical entertainment provided by 91.3 The Summit. Enjoy light appetizers whilst sampling a variety of wines from around the world. Michael Honig will be on hand to highlight his vineyard’s wines and to meet guests. The event promises to be a night to remember, and is accessible to those new to wine-tasting as well as to seasoned wine lovers. Ticket prices begin at $50 per guest and include a keepsake wine glass, hors d’oeuvres and wine, as well as free parking adjacent to the museum.

The 14th Annual Akron Wine Auction – Saturday, June 13

Taking place at the elegant Portage Country Club, the Akron Wine Auction begins at 6:30 pm. Guests will enjoy a silent auction during the early hours of the evening followed by dinner with Michael Honig and a live auction presided by Hart Davis Hart Wine Company. Both auctions feature the best in wines and wine-related offerings, from trips and one-of-a-kind experiences to highly collectable wines. Ticket prices begin at $225 per guest.
