Annual Island of Misfit Toys Workshop to be Held Saturday, December 12
For Release: December 2009
Akron, Ohio, December 2, 2009 — Round up all your curious, creative and inventor-type kids for an afternoon of mess-making, toy-breaking and art-creating during the wildly popular Island of Misfit Toys Workshop on Saturday, December 12 from 12 to 4 pm.
Kids will have a blast deconstructing everything from remote control cars and plush toys to Barbie dolls and action figures. Imaginative minds will love reassembling the parts into strange and humorous sculptural artworks.
Hattie’s Café Express will be open for service, and families can enjoy a hearty sandwich, light snack or a cup of fair trade coffee.
All tools and materials will be supplied by the Akron Art Museum, but families are encouraged to bring cast-off toys and items from home. Donations of clean but unwanted, broken or outgrown toys can be dropped off in the museum’s lobby through the day of the event.
Family Drop-Ins are FREE for everyone. For more information check the museum’s calendar of events online at www.AkronArtMuseum.org or call 330-376-9186 x229.
Family Drop-Ins are made possible by a gift from Dominion Foundation and the Glenn R. and Alice V. Boggess Memorial Foundation.
