For Release: February 2009

Akron, Ohio, February 23, 2009 — Enjoy the art of fine beer in a sanctuary of fine art during Art and Ale, a beer tasting event presented by the Akron Art Museum on Friday, March 13 from 7 – 10 pm. Back by popular demand, Art and Ale will feature savory snacks, unique beers and the museum’s fantastic collection of modern art.

“I am very excited to be a part of Art and Ale,” said Sue Parker, special events manager at the Akron Art Museum. “This year we are hoping to double last year’s attendance of 180 with the addition of three local microbreweries. This event is a special opportunity to showcase locally run breweries and businesses.”

The three Akron microbreweries, Ohio Brewing Company, Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. and Hoppin’ Frog Brewery, will be sending brew as well as their brewmasters to talk about their craft beers. Other beers, including Goose Island Beers and select import and specialty beers, will be provided by distributer House of LaRose.

Tickets are $25 for members and $30 for non-member guests. Non-members who attend will receive a discount on new memberships if purchased that evening. The galleries will be open until 9 pm, and admission will be free of charge for ticketholders.
