news release 9th Annual Art & Ale Beer Tasting Event returns to Akron Art Museum
For Release: Tuesday, February 9, 2016
Akron—The Akron Art Museum will present the 9th Annual Art & Ale beer tasting on Mar. 11, 2016 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the museum’s McDowell Lobby. This year’s celebration showcases top-rated beers from more than 20 brewmasters, including many Ohio craft breweries. In addition to the exciting selection of brews, ciders and meads, Art & Ale will feature delicious treats from local food purveyors.
Akron Art Museum Development Officer Michael Derr said, “Art & Ale has been a fantastic event time and time again, because the museum crystal is a beautiful space to host terrific brewmasters and culinarians. Everyone always has a great time. It’s a fun atmosphere.”
Art & Ale guests will have the opportunity to enjoy selections from Thirsty Dog Brewing Company, Ohio Brewing Company, Hoppin’ Frog Brewery, The Canton Brewing Company and Jackie O’s Pub and Brewery, to name just a handful. Local and regional food purveyors, such as Lucky Penny Creamery, Old Carolina Barbeque Company, Sweet Mary’s Bakery and Nuevo Modern Mexican & Tequila Bar will provide a variety of tempting treats to pair with various brews.
Derr added, “We love Art & Ale because it’s a great party, and also because it’s an excellent fundraiser for the museum. It allows us to continue to serve our mission, which is to enrich lives through modern and contemporary art. We’re a unique institution in that we bring so much to our community in the way of quality art experiences, from groundbreaking exhibitions to children’s art programs, tours, public art projects and artist’s lectures.”
Ohio beers will be judged by an expert panel consisting of Rick Armon from the Akron Beacon Journal, Marc Bona from Cleveland.com and Jon Albrecht from ACME Fresh Market.
The museum galleries will be open for the first two hours of Art & Ale, so guests will have the perfect opportunity to view NEO Geo, which showcases geometric abstraction created by artists with ties to Ohio, as well as Snack, PULP, and the Island of Misfit Toys.
Advance tickets are $35 for members, $50 for nonmembers. Tickets purchased the day of the event are $50. Click here to purchase tickets to Art & Ale online. Art & Ale is for ages 21 and older. A state-issued form of I.D. is required.
