news release A Free Family Day at the Akron Art Museum with the Spark! Family Film Fest
For Release: March 2, 2017
Akron, Ohio—The Akron Art Museum invites movie lovers young and old to the Spark! Family Film Fest on Saturday, March 18, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The art museum will present an afternoon of free, internationally-acclaimed children’s films and cinema-inspired art activities for all ages at the upcoming event. From 12:30 to 1:00 p.m., the art museum will screen a program of the best short films from the 2016 New York International Children’s Film Festival, followed by the feature-length animated film Molly Monster at 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Akron Art Museum educator Amanda Crowe said, “Our Family Film Fest is a hit for families who are looking to spend quality time together. This includes sharing a cinematic journey (and popcorn) or creating yarn monsters between shows, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with recycled materials and scraps.”
Kids Flix Mix: The Best of the New York International Film Festival 2016 takes an imaginative look at creatures interacting with their humans. The twelve shorts are 58 minutes long and recommended for ages 3 – any age.
Our feature film, Molly Monster, tells the story of Molly the Monster as she journeys through colorful, Seussical worlds with her best friend Edison. As it happens, Molly is about to become a big sister and her quest centers on her attempt to deliver a hat that she knitted to Egg Island, where her baby brother will be born. The animated film is 72 minutes long and is recommended for ages 3 – 7.
Family Days are made possible by the presenting sponsor PNC with additional support from the R.C. Musson and Katharine M. Musson Charitable Foundation.
