For Release: March 6, 2018
Artist Tara McPherson returns to the Akron Art Museum to present a one-day-only Pop-Up Shop of her prints and merchandise on Sunday, March 11, from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. McPherson will be available to sign items purchased at the Pop-Up Shop. The artist last visited the museum in 2017 during the presentation of Turn the Page: The First Ten Years of Hi-Fructose, an exhibition that included her painting. While the event is open to the public, Akron Art Museum members can get early access to the shop from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. The event is expected to draw a significant number of fans of McPherson’s work.
The artist’s signature style combines a palette of teals, pinks and black to create paintings, prints and drawings of women that reference nature, science and mythology. She is also known for sought-after gig poster designs for popular musical artists, including Beck, Modest Mouse and Death Cab for Cutie. McPherson’s artwork has been exhibited in fine art galleries worldwide and featured in publications such as The New York Times, Hi-Fructose, Elle, Vanity Fair, and Punk Planet, as well as the Oscar award-winning film, Juno.
