news release Highly Anticipated: Akron Art Museum’s 11th Annual Art & Ale
For Release: January 29, 2018
Akron—The Akron Art Museum presents the 11th Annual Art & Ale craft beer tasting event on Friday, March 9 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. The popular, intimate showcase for top-rated local and regional brewmasters has already generated considerable buzz in 2018 with a museum members’ pre-sale. General admission tickets go on sale Monday, January 29, 2018. Art & Ale pairs exceptional brews with delicious offerings from local food purveyors, and will bring back 2017’s coveted awards: a juried prize for best overall brew and the people’s choice prize.
Akron Art Museum Director of Advancement Bryan de Boer said, “Having recently welcomed over 10,000 new members, we’re excited to share Art & Ale with them, perhaps for the first time. And given the number of advanced member tickets we’ve sold, they’re excited about it, too.”
In addition to General Admission ($50) and Museum Member ($35) ticket options, the art museum offers a Designated Driver ticket ($25) for attendees who won’t be sampling the beers, but for whom great food, non-alcoholic beverages and a chance to support the Akron Art Museum are strong draws.
Senior Event Manager Colleen Iacianci said, “Art & Ale is always one of our best parties. It’s a fun evening in the unique environment of the museum with delicious beverages, great food and time with friends. It’s a perfect prelude to spring, and people are always in a festive mood.”
“Art & Ale generates important support for the museum each year. The money we raise goes to support the education programs and exhibitions we offer throughout the year,” de Boer said.
Art & Ale guests will have the opportunity to enjoy selections from a variety of brewers including HiHo Brewing Company, Royal Docks Brewery, Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery, Hoppin’ Frog, Crafted Artisan Meadery, Fat Head’s, Mad Tree, Urban Artifact, Mucky Duck, Rhinegeist, Elevator Brewing and others to be announced. Local and regional food purveyors, including ACME Fresh Market Catering, will add comfort food delights and decadent treats to round out the evening.
Ohio beers will be judged by Jon Albrecht from ACME Fresh Market, Rick Armon from the Akron Beacon Journal and Marc Bona from Cleveland.com.
The museum galleries will be open for the first two hours of Art & Ale, so guests will have the perfect opportunity to view the museum’s new exhibition Jun Kaneko: Blurred Lines, which showcases the groundbreaking, monumental works of internationally renowned ceramic artist Jun Kaneko, as well as Micro/Macro, Frameworks, and Ed Emberley: Better You Than Me.
Tickets purchased the day of the event are $50. Click here to purchase tickets to Art & Ale online. Art & Ale is for ages 21 and older. A state-issued form of I.D. is required.
Art & Ale is presented by ACME Fresh Market.
