news release Last Look Tour of Intersections: Artists Master Line and Space at the Akron Art Museum
For Release: December 28, 2016
Akron—Akron Art Museum Chief Curator Janice Driesbach will lead a free “last look” tour of Intersections: Artists Master Line and Space at the art museum on Thursday, January 12 at 6:30 pm. Intersections showcases new and recent work by Mark Fox, Anne Lindberg, Nathalie Miebach, John Newman, Judy Pfaff and Ursula von Rydingsvard—contemporary sculptors whose engagement with paper is also an important part of their practice.
The artists featured in the exhibition represent multiple generations and aesthetic perspectives. Part of Driesbach’s tour will provide behind-the-scenes insights into how the artists came to her attention and how she worked with each to select work and develop installations for the exhibition. Her comments will include observations on how site-specific installations created by artists Anne Lindberg, Nathalie Miebach and Judy Pfaff were realized.
“Organizing contemporary art exhibitions is a key part of our curators’ jobs at the Akron Art Museum, an activity that involves interviewing artists and visiting their studios. I look forward to the Last Look tour as an opportunity to share more about working with artists to select their work for Intersections,” said Akron Art Museum Chief Curator Janice Driesbach.
Intersections illustrates the Akron Art Museum’s ongoing commitment to present the work and ideas of contemporary artists in ways that allow visitors a deeper understanding of their intentions and creative processes. The exhibition is on view through January 15, 2017. The Last Look tour is free, but space is limited and registration is requested.
