news release The Akron Art Museum Brings the Sounds of Summer Back to the Bud and Susie Rogers Garden with Downtown@Dusk’s 34th Season
For Release: May 1, 2018
Akron, Ohio—The Akron Art Museum presents its 34th summer of music with its iconic concert series, Downtown@Dusk, featuring an eclectic mix of jazz, roots rock and Americana and Akron Sound rock from local legends. The free, outdoor concerts will be held on Thursdays at 6:30 P.M., from June 28 through July 26, 2018, in the art museum’s Bud and Susie Rogers Garden.
Akron Art Museum Chief of Staff Jennifer Shipman said, “The atmosphere is really relaxed and fun. The garden is a beautiful place to spend a few hours with friends enjoying the music and a cool drink. There isn’t another venue like it.”
Throughout the summer, the museum café will offer delicious food options, including ice cream novelties and ice-cold beverages.
The June 28 concert features Grammy-award winning jazz trumpeter Curtis Taylor, accompanied by Akron’s Theron Brown. Taylor has performed with pianist Cyrus Chestnut at the Kennedy Center (recorded for NPR’s Jazzset), played engagements at Dizzy’s Club in New York City and toured extensively around the world.
