news release Treat Mom to an Art Experience at the Akron Art Museum’s Mother’s Day Tea

For Release: April 19, 2017

Akron, Ohio—The Akron Art Museum wants to treat you mom to an unforgettable art experience this Mother’s Day. The museum will host a Mother’s Day Tea on Sunday, May 14 from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. featuring mimosas (or sparkling juice), a variety of lunch and tea options, gallery and garden admission, special discounts for the museum shop, and a make and take keepsake art activity.

Akron Art Museum Senior Event Manager Colleen Iacianci said, “We’re thrilled to offer a special celebration for moms this Mother’s Day. The afternoon will certainly provide a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the Bud and Susie Rogers Garden, which should be in full bloom by mid-May.”

The Mother’s Day Tea is an open house. Attendees can arrive when it is convenient for them. The menu for the afternoon will be provided by Robert J. Events and Catering and includes assorted tea sandwiches, fresh fruit, miniature pastries and a selection of beverages.

“It’ll be a great event for families to spend time together in the presence of some truly beautiful artwork, including magnificent Paul Stankard glass, El Anatsui’s monumental and delicate Dzesi II, and the paintings of American impressionists in the C. Blake McDowell Galleries, among so many others,” Senior Development Officer Jeneé Garlando said.

Families can create a keepsake artwork of their own to commemorate the day. The art museum will provide a photo opportunity, complete with backdrop, props and costumes, for families to dress up and create unique family photos and portraits. Frames and supplies for decorating them will also be available.

Mother’s Day Tea at the Akron Art Museum is $25 for museum member adults; $35 for non-members; $15 for students (under 18); and Free for children (under 12). Tickets can be purchased online at www.AkronArtMuseum.org/eventregistration.
