Akron—Art and Ale, the Akron Art Museum’s acclaimed beer tasting event returns on Friday, Mar. 13, 2015 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The 8th edition of the annual festival of beer and brewmakers features a range of beers from 12 highly rated breweries, including 4 of 5 Ohio breweries rated among the top 100 brewers of 2015 by RateBeer.com. Top-rated brewers, Hoppin’ Frog Brewery, Fat Head’s Brewery and Salon, Thirsty Dog Brewing Company, and Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery will be joined by an additional array of expert craft brewmasters, including Ohio Brewing Company, Tramonte Distributing Company – Craft Beers, Griffin Cider, Cavalier Distributing, Main Street Grille and Brewing Company, North Coast Brewing Company and Portside Distillery and Brewery. Also participating at Art and Ale, and included in the RateBeer top 100, is the Kansas City-based Boulevard Brewing Company.
Akron Art Museum Membership Manager Michael Derr said, “Art and Ale is a great event for us and for beer lovers because it’s an intimate event offering guests the opportunity to sample some of the very best craft beers currently being made, while giving them a chance to interact with the brewers and learn about the beer they make.”
Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy tasty treats from local and regional food purveyors. The beers will be paired with regionally produced food, including samplings from Lucky Penny Creamery, Old Carolina Barbecue Company, Frankly Frank's Kettle Corn, Label Peelers Beer & Wine Making Supplies, Nuevo Modern Mexican & Tequila Bar, Or Derv Foods, Inc., Craft Beer Bar, Ingmar Rauschert’s German Pretzels, Baker Blvd Decadent Cupcakes and Mayfield Road Creamery.
Ohio beers will be judged by an expert panel consisting of Rick Armon from the Akron Beacon Journal, Marc Bona from Cleveland.com and Jon Albrecht from ACME Fresh Market. At the event, guests can enter to win great brewmaking prizes and memorabilia from the brewers.
The museum galleries will be open for the first hour of Art and Ale, so guests will have the perfect opportunity to view “Beauty Reigns: A Baroque Sensibility in Recent Painting,” as well as “Living With Art,” “Altered Landscapes,” and “Christopher Pekoc: Hand Made.”
Advance tickets are $35 for members, $50 for nonmembers. Tickets purchased the day of the event are $50. Click here to purchase tickets to Art and Ale online. Art and Ale is for ages 21 and older.
