The Akron Art Museum's Popular Outdoor Concert Series Downtown@Dusk Returns for its 24th Season
For Release: June 2008
Akron, OH – Downtown Akron heats up on Thursdays this summer when the Akron Art Museum’s popular outdoor summer concert series Downtown@Dusk returns for its 24th annual season! From July 10 through September 11, concert-goers will enjoy music, food and art every Thursday, 6:30 - 8:30 pm in the Museum’s member parking lot, just south of the museum on High Street.
Downtown@Dusk will feature a live band, along with personalities from 89.7 WKSU. Gourmet picnics will be available for purchase from the museum’s Jazzman’s Café. While the Downtown@Dusk band takes a break, visitors have the opportunity to attend informal ArtTalks@Dusk by museum staff and area artists in the museum’s auditorium.
Throughout the evening, kids and an accompanying adult can become artists by participating in free, hands-on art projects at Family Fun Nights from 6 – 8:30 pm.
Also, stop by the museum's Corbin Family Foundation Gallery to check out Smells Like Teen Spirit, an exhibition of screen printed D@D band posters created by the Akron Art Museum's teen council. Posters will be auctioned off at each concert.
Parking is free in the High Street municipal garage directly across the street from the entrance of the Akron Art Museum. No smoking, pets, bottles, cans, bikes, skateboards, sporting equipment or chalk allowed. In case of inclement weather, concerts will take place inside the museum’s Beatrice Knapp McDowell Grand Lobby.
Galleries are open until 9 pm. Admission fees apply to the galleries. Concerts are free.
