Patrick Caulfield

(London, England, 1936 - 2005, London, England)

Europe, British

Caulfield was one of the "New Generation" of British painters in 1960s London. Caulfield’s cartoonish style and love of everyday objects allies him with the Pop Art he experienced in London in the 1960s. Unlike his contemporaries, he drew inspiration from traditional still life painting rather than mass-produced commercial images. In turn, his prints depicting pottery, glassware, and food are more orderly and refined than similar images by Warhol and others.
