Jodie Vicenta Jacobson

Photographer, videographer and curator Jacobson creates poetic, nostalgic effects through focusing on the subtle play of light and shadow. She received her BA from The Colorado College, Colorado Springs, and her MFA from Hunter College, City University of New York. Jacobson was the curator for the Horticultural Society of New York from 2003 to 2008, where she organized several exhibitions for artists such as Alex Katz, Paul Morrison and Ann Craven, as well as the American Society of Botanical Artists Annual International Exhibition. In 2008, the Wild Project production company presented her work in an exhibition, Hint, which features subject matter involving botanical objects and the sensuality of nature. In 2013, Jacobson was curator for Desire, an exhibition of women artists at Yancey Richardson Gallery.

Her work has been referenced and featured in The New Yorker, Artforum, Time Out New York, The New York Times, The Village Voice and Frieze. Jacobson is a faculty member at the School of Visual Arts, New York City for the Art History department.
