Thomas Moran traveled and painted extensively throughout the American West, recording the natural beauty of the Yellowstone Region, the Yosemite Valley, and many other sites in his works. As the popularity of his artwork grew, Moran came to be closely identified with this untamed region, even earning the nickname Tom "Yellowstone" Moran.
