David Hare

(New York, United States, 1917 - 1992, Victor, Idaho)

American

Hare is primarily remembered as a sculptor, but he was a painter as well. The large, rich patches of color and dreamy imagery in his paintings suggest an alternative world. That emphasis traces back to Hare’s involvement with Surrealism during the 1940s, an aesthetic in which art expressed the world of dreams and the subconscious.
