Jackie Winsor

(St. John's Island, Newfoundland, 1941 - )

North America, American, born Canada

Like Minimalist sculptors Robert Morris and Sol Lewitt, Winsor's forms are simple and geometrically based. Unlike those artists however, Winsor eschews machine fabrication and working with foundries and factories. Instead, like a traditional craftsperson, she makes objects by hand. Though some of her works may take several years to complete and weigh up to a ton, they are modestly scaled, not monumental.

New York, United States
