Born July 20, 1932 in Seoul, Korea. Paik made his artistic debut in Wiesbaden, West Germany, in 1963 with a solo art exhibition titled "Exposition of Music-Electronic Television." Trained in music, aesthetics and philosophy, he was a member of the 1960s art movement Fluxus. He moved to New York in 1964 and started working with classical cellist Charlotte Moorman to combine video, music and performance. Nam June Paik was a naturalized US citizen in 1976. Paik was left partially paralyzed by a stroke in 1996. He died in his Miami Beach apartment in Jan. 2006, he was 73 years old.
