More Information

The Maroger medium was discovered by Jacques Maroger, former technical director of the Louvre laboratory, who believed that he had rediscovered the medium used by Jan van Eyck. This medium seemed to have more translucency than modern oil. From 1945 onward, Marsh utilized this technique.
