More Information

Former collaborators Abramovic and Ulay were primarily performance artists who were given the opportunity to work with large-scale Polaroid photography, a medium made available to artists starting in the late 1970s. These four images are based on their 1983 performance 'Modus Vivendi (Way of Living)'. Heroic in scale and beauty, the four silhouettes suggest womanhood, maleness, union and growth.
