More Information

Turner is known for her quiet garden and domestic scenes rendered with a vigorous impressionistic technique. Despite the painting’s lush surface and the rich patterning of the fabrics and textiles she depicted, the artist reported to Akron collector Edwin C. Shaw that she was most proud of the work's timeless theme and "profound and serious" mood.
