More Information

The Pyramid of the Sun (Huaca del Sol) is located in the coastal desert near Trujillo, Peru. The Moche civilization built the structure as a series of terraces constructed from an estimated 130-140 million adobe bricks. Although approximately two-thirds of the structure has eroded since its completion around 450 CE, the Pyramid of the Sun would once have been the largest adobe structure in the Americas.
