In addition to words, frequently drawn from the poetry of Emily Dickinson, Dill focuses on clothing and the human figure. An avid collector of fabrics from throughout the world, she describes dresses as “our psychic skins.” In both her sculptures and works on paper, texture is an important element for Dill, whose use of stitching or floating threads contribute to her evocative compositions. The artist’s choice to print her lithograph on layers of transparent material in 'I Hear Voices' characterizes her innovative approach to materials.
