Intravert I is an example of Stanczak’s “Transparencies” or “See Throughs.” First the artist painted the background black. He then applied tape to mark off the regular intervals, seal the edges, and contain the silver pigment. The lines are spaced to create the impression of transparent planes hovering in space. They also create rhythmic patterns that have been likened to the Baroque music the artist favors.
