More Information

John Pearson’s precise, systematic experiments with geometric forms and unmodulated color in a wide variety of media have earned him recognition as a key figure in the arts of Northeast Ohio and beyond. Regeneration—Continuum: GBxPbl presents an isolated visual environment that reflects the color explorations that have largely defined Pearson’s later career. This relatively small work is from the artist’s Transformations series, which focuses on ovoid seed forms. Pearson became particularly interested in seeds and life cycles during his travels to Japan in the 1990s. The letters at the end of the work’s title refer to the paint colors used on its surface and on the edges of the central relief form, which cast a soft pink glow to the interior of the white frame.
