This work questions photographic truth while considering contemporary issues of surveillance and privacy. Probst’s images are deliberately choreographed. At first glance, they appear to represent multiple realities or suggest a narrative. The photographs are all, in fact, captured in the same instant. Probst uses radio signals to link multiple cameras, some focused simultaneously on predetermined scenes, while others include chance events. In this work, it’s unclear who is doing the watching and who is being watched.
