Hedda Nussbaum was a naïve young children’s book writer. Successful in her job. Submissive to the will of her domineering egocentric boyfriend, Joel Steinberg. She survived the most extreme abuse imaginable. One of the two children who lived with them and call her mommy did not. In a long while Hedda came to understand the process. Joel had methodically brainwashed her. She had become completely dependent on his commands. Years later, Hedda took Steinberg to court and sued him for damages. Winning her case meant the statue of limitations was extended for all victims of domestic abuse. NB. The negative of Heddas face was soaked in rain water and sedimented to test the limits of film. on assignment for people magazine.
