Beyond the News: Photographs from the Akron Beacon Journal Archives

Photographs we see in the daily news expand our knowledge and understanding of events in our local communities and around the world. Beyond the News brings together a selection of outstanding news photographs drawn from the archives of the Akron Beacon Journal. Meant to inform us of everyday happenings and exceptional events, these striking images are also significant works of art. Organized by the Akron Art Museum on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the city’s longest-running newspaper, this exhibition brings to light the people, places and events that have helped to shape Akron throughout its history.
