Akron – The Akron Art Museum has appointed Alexandra Houser Vukoder (she/ her/ hers) as Director of Advancement. The Director of Advancement is a member of the Museum’s leadership team and is responsible for coordinating the Museum’s fundraising efforts, membership, Museum events, and visitor experience.
Akron Art Museum Interim Executive Director Jon Fiume stated, “I believe that Alex will be a great addition to the leadership team and our advancement department. With her extensive background, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the organization, and I look forward to working with her.”
Alex Vukoder brings more than 18 years of multi-faceted non-profit experience to the Akron Art Museum. In her previous roles with the local, regional, and national American Cancer Society, she led innovative communications, marketing, and revenue cultivation strategies. In addition, she served as an integral part of the relationship management teams to identify, cultivate, and steward individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations. Her experience also extends to advocacy programming and grant and capital campaign support. Vukoder plans to utilize her cross-functional expertise in public relations, campaign management, and community engagement programs to showcase all the Museum has to offer.

As a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio, Vukoder is a longtime appreciator of the Museum and cares deeply about the community. She is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Akron and Women in Touch with Akron’s Needs (WITAN) and serves as the Grapevine Columnist for the Bath Country Journal. Alex lives in Bath with her husband, Phil, and their three children.
