If you could borrow one work from the Museum’s collection to display in your office, what would it be?
We’d choose Raphael Gleitsmann’s Winter Evening (c.1932)—a hauntingly serene depiction of Akron’s industrial landscape under snow. The piece captures the quiet dignity of our city’s working heritage and the resilience of its people. It’s a reminder that even in stark conditions, there’s beauty, purpose, and strength. Displaying it in our office would honor Akron’s legacy while reflecting our firm’s deep roots in the community.
Was a particular exhibition special to you?
The current exhibition Alfred McMoore: All This Luck in My Head holds special significance for us. McMoore was a lifelong Akron resident whose monumental scroll drawings capture the people and stories of our community with raw honesty and imaginative depth. Living with schizophrenia, McMoore turned to art as a daily practice of expression and connection.
This exhibition resonates with us not only because of McMoore’s artistic legacy, but also because of the deep local ties and the spirit of collaboration it celebrates. Chuck Auerbach [whose family loaned many of the works on view] was a good friend to me and the community; I know he would be proud that the Museum took up the challenge to display
Alfred’s work in such a wonderful light! We’re proud to support a museum that honors local artists like McMoore and invites the community to participate in that creative energy through interactive scrolls and shared storytelling.
