Barbara Stanczak

Barbara Stanczak was born in Germany in 1941, came to the United States on a student visa in 1963, married the artist Julian Stanczak in 1963, and became an American citizen in 1968. She was educated at the School of Arts and Crafts, in Münster, Germany, worked an apprenticeship painting frescoes with her grandfather at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, went on to study at Xavier University in Cincinnati, and finally graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Master’s of Arts in Art Education and Art History at Case Western Reserve University. She was a Professor at the Cleveland Institute of Art from 1976-2011.
Stanczak’s artwork is part of the permanent collection of Anderson Gallery at the State University of New York at Buffalo, New York; Cleveland Artist's Foundation, Lakewood, Ohio; The Housatonic Museum of Art, Bridgeport, Connecticut; The Butler Institute of Art, Youngstown, Ohio; Cleveland Clinic, Fairview Cancer Foundation, Rocky River, Ohio; CARTA, The Cleveland Art Association, Cleveland, Ohio; and Taft Collection, Pepper Pike, Ohio.
