Abe Frajndlich

(Frankfurt, Germany, 1946 - )

American, born Germany

Abe Frajndlich moved from Germany to the United States via Israel, France and Brazil, finally settling in Cleveland by the age of ten. He attended Northwestern University where he received his BA and MA in English. Between 1970 and 1976, Frajndlich studied photography privately with his mentor and role model Minor White, whom he met when White was visiting Case Western Reserve University. Frajndlich also studied with Nathan Lyons at the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, New York. He has worked for numerous publications including Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Life, the London Observer, and the New York Times Magazine. Frajndlich exhibits throughout the United States and extensively in Europe, especially Germany.
