Wetlands of numerous types and sizes are ubiquitous in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. They store and filter water while providing habitat to animals and plants. Activity in a wetland will change throughout the day. This image captures a moment in the daily transition of the sun, showing a wetland in contrasting areas of long deep shadows and bright light. A location’s daily balance of sun and shadow helps determine which species thrive in a particular wetland.
