More Information

Roberston worked as a photojournalist for Picture Post, the British equivalent of Life magazine. Her photo essay "Mother's Day Off" chronicled an excursion taken by a group of homemakers from Battersea, an industrial suburb of London. They made a day of visiting pubs and then adjourned to a park for singing and dancing. Robertson's ability to put her subjects at ease made it possible for her to capture the appealing, candid images that Picture Post's editors preferred.
